Tom’s commitment to his community is why he has dedicated his life to public service through his time in the State Legislature and as the Outagamie County Executive. As the Outagamie County Executive, he has worked with both Democrats and Republicans to balance the budget for the past five years. Tom has also protected seniors by championing SeniorCare and focused on creating jobs by expanding the Appleton International Airport and supporting a regional economic development partnership.
Now, Tom is running for Congress because Washington is broken. Just as he has done throughout his entire career, he will always put the people of Northeast Wisconsin first. He will work with anyone, regardless of political party, who shares his dedication to community service, efficient government and a focus on job creation through education, infrastructure development and job training.
Since 2011, Tom has served as Outagamie County Executive where he has balanced the budget 5 times.
Tom lives in Appleton with his wife Maria and their two children Mary and George.
When the NewPage Paper Mill threatened to close, Tom stood up in support of the workers there. Once the plant finally closed, Tom was instrumental at placing over half of the mill workers in new jobs.
Tom’s 5-day sit-in at the State Capitol shamed politicians in both parties to pass a budget.
Tom will oppose any attempt to privatize Social Security or reduce Medicare benefits.
Tom’s Wisconsin roots run deep - his father is a Lutheran Pastor who established churches in Combined Locks and Sherwood more than 30 years ago.
Agriculture is one of Wisconsin's top industries, and Tom will fight for our farmers.
